Stuff I’ve learned about food and eating.

Since doing the “kick start your metabolism” and “3 day diet plus” plans, I’ve learned a few things about dieting that changed my perception about food and eating.

If you have any crazy thoughts that you’d like to share, please feel free.

  • Black, bitter coffee for breakfast won’t kill you (even if it’s only black, bitter coffee for breakfast)
  • You won’t rust from the inside even if you drink 3 liters of water
  • Black, bitter coffee is actually not so bad
  • You can survive on a piece of hake and fresh tomatoes for lunch
  • You won’t die without bread, rice or pasta
  • Black, bitter coffee is actually not so bad
  • The cookies will still be there next week, you don’t have to eat it now
  • The stores are stocked with condensed milk and cookies, you don’t have to eat it all NOW as if it’s the last on earth ever
  • One slice of toast with a teaspoon of peanut butter is fine as breakfast
  • You can only prepare veggies in so many ways
  • Black, bitter coffee is actually not so bad
  • If you fall off the wagon, the best thing to do would be to get back on it as soon as possible
  • The torture machine is not going anywhere, you have to get on it at some stage to see your progress (or lack off)
  • Water is actually quite nice (no, you won’t rust)
  • No matter how many cooked eggs you peel, there will always be 90% of them that will not be deshelled smoothly
  • Cravings are a bitch
  • You will pick up weight if you don’t sleep enough
  • You won’t die from starvation if you don’t eat this piece of biltong immediately
  • Black, bitter coffee is actually not so bad

This list could be added to, I’m sure.

Ever since the emotional trauma I experienced in grade 3, I’ve been an emotional eater. I’ve linked emotions to food. Since then, I’ve binged when I was happy, I’ve binged when I was sad, I’ve binged when I was stressed.

I’m glad to say that I think the binging part is mostly over. I do not have that emotional link to food that I had previously. Mainly because I’ve realised that one does not die that easy. Or quick.

Since Feb, I’ve lost 13 kilos. I just have to keep on holding on.

One day at a time. Bitter, black coffee and all.

    Ek het vreeslik baie suiker in my koffie gedrink en baie koffie gedrink- het gehoop ek sal ophou koffie drink as ek die suiker los- en die melk los- dit het toe nie gehelp nie- ek’s mal oor swart bitter koffie- daardie koffie geur en koffie smaak op jou tong —- hmmmm !!! nog iets dit het geen verskil aan my ronde lyfie gemaak nie!

      Ek drink net by die werk koffie, by die huis oor naweke drink ek 1 koppie Milo.

      Mens proe baie meer die koffie as jy dit swart drink.

    Dis nou twee weke wat ek op dieet is en ek was nog nooit so gemotiveer nie. Dis ook grootliks aan jou inskrywings hier te danke. Ek het ‘n profile geskep op myfitnesspal.com en vul daagliks als wat ek eet daar in. Die site help mens om te bepaal hoeveel kaloriee jy kan inneem, saam met en sonder oefening. Dit werk vir my. Dit dui ook aan as jy te veel vet of cholesterol inneem, ens. Dis skrikwekkend om nou te sien hoeveel ek te veel geëet het terwyl ek eintlik dink ek het min geëet 🙂

    Ek probeer gebalanseerd eet, maar as die lus vir soetgoed te groot raak, eet ek een blokkie donker sjokolade. Maar ek crave al hoe minder soos wat my bloedsuiker stabiliseer. Ek het ook geleer dat ‘n ontbyt van yogurt en muesli vir my werk en ek word eers etenstyd weer honger. Ek eet nie na 6 in die middag nie, ek vat my aand se kos eerder werk toe vir

    Sorry, per ongeluk verkeerde knoppie gedruk. Ek vat my hoofmaal werk toe vir middagete. Die eerste week het die hongerpyne my in die nag wakker gemaak, maar dan drink ek maar water. Ek drink ook swart koffie, maar gooi een suiker in, ek gee eerder daardie bietjie kaloriee op 🙂

    Noudat ek oplet wat en wanneer ek eet, besef ek eers regtig hoeveel kere ek sommer net geëet het van verveeldheid. Dis actually scary. Ek betrap myself dat ek wonder wat kan ek eet sodra ek alleen is of nie baie besig is nie en dan onthou ek NEE, los die kos!

    Dis tough, regtig. Maar dié keer gaan ek vasbyt! Sterkte aan jou kant.

    jinne, kom hiedie blog entry nou op die regte tyd. ek het nou geblog oor hoe erg dit vir my is om detoks op die oomblik – die “no coffee rule” is die heel ergste vir my – it’s day 5 and i feel very sorry for myself. dis so freakin’ koud en ek smag na comfort food …

    Lag ek nou vir jou black and bitter coffee! 😆
    Ek drink myne swart met ‘n kwartlepeltjie suiker, net om daai bitter bietjie te breek. Ek het al uit suiker gehardloop, en dis regtig so: black and bitter is nie so bad nie!

    Ek is nou besig om die lae GI-ding te doen. My grootste beweegrede was my konstante moegheid. Vyf weke later, en ek voel soos ‘n nuwe mens. Hoofpyne is weg. Hope energie bygekry. En ek drink nou fruktose ipv suiker – die lae GI-opsie. Eintlik behoort ek baie minder koffie te drink (drink seker 20 koppies ‘n dag 😳 ), maar dis een verslawing wat ek nie sommer gaan opgee nie. 😉

    Welgedaan met jou 13 kilos!

      lag ek nou lekker vir jou turksvy – i’m with you there – ek kan nie koffie los nie. ek het in julie vir 3 weke dit gelos, en ek was NIE ‘n nice persoon nie. ek sny ook suiker en wheat uit – dis vrek moeilik, maar ek voel ook stukke beter vandat ek dit doen, nou hou ek maar aan … sterkte met al julle eet-dinge … 🙂
